This development is the first stage of an 1100 apartment Master Plan negotiated with the City of Sydney by TCA, following earlier unsuccessful attempts to secure approval for this highly significant site along the South Dowling Street corridor connecting Central Sydney to the Airport.
The site forms a key part of the Victoria Park precinct and wider Green Square Urban Redevelopment undertaken by the State Government and City Council. The overall Master Plan provides a range of podium, mid-rise and high rise living environments. An architectural parti was established for the site that requires a robust, masonry for the street edge buildings and a glassier, lighter character for the mid-rise structures with a strong visual articulation at the street parapet datum. The tower has a more unified, “ground to roof” form in order to accentuate its slim proportions. The plan was fragmented into four elements pin-wheeled around the core, with two distinctive, iconic corner elements addressing the southern portal entry to the city and the city itself from the north.
