Date Completed: 2002
This large dwelling is situated on a steep site prone to land slippage and bushfire risk. A massive masonry structure was devised to address these issues. The dwelling is accessed from its upper level, via a bridge. A wedge-shaped central space organises the plan and provides access to the lower level and tightly framed views through a mature tree canopy to Pittwater beyond. The public levels of the dwelling are located at the upper level, as a series of discreet rooms and terraces that connect across the central void. A bridge from the lower level provides connection to a future separate studio below the main dwelling on the lower part of the site.
