In recent years the RTA has brought a strong urban design focus to its many projects across the State. Sydney’s long-term growth strategy envisages up to 250,000 new residents in its south-western development corridor over the next 15 to 20 years.
Camden Valley Way is presently a two-way, two lane country road connecting the southern limits of the metropolitan area to the historic Macquarie town of Camden. The transformation of this presently bucolic rural landscape will place huge pressure on the road, which has strong heritage values.
TCA and Spackman+Mossop were commissioned to develop an urban strategy designed to preserve the sense of these values. This involved ensuring the proposed future corridor integrated with topography, heritage items and strong landscape features.
