Ryde Civic Centre

CIVIC-ENTRY

Location: Ryde, NSW

This project was an invited Tender process that was won by TCA and Lend Lease. This project completes the transformation of the Ryde Town Centre into a revitalised urban precinct strongly connected to the surrounding established residential community.

A major feature is the exciting new Civic Piazza, an appropriately scaled, intimate new place for the entire Ryde community to enjoy. Activated by the retail offering at the base of the northern residential tower and by people visiting the Council Chamber, new multi-purpose Auditorium and a range of new community meeting rooms and display/exhibition spaces.

In addition to the required public space at the north end of Blaxland Rd, the new Piazza creates a civic heart between the buildings, activated edges and much greater environmental amenity. The space to the north of the Civic Centre becomes a softer, public green space to provide a landscape setting for the Civic Centre from the northern approaches.
