This medium density proposal forms the public face to Anzac Parade for a very large, environmentally sensitive site to the north of the Prince Henry Hospital redevelopment on Sydney’s southern suburban coast-line.

Its long north-south axis and proximity to a major roadway presented specific site-planning issues, and a wide range of building envelope options were analysed.

The preferred option arranges the program into two linear north-south wings and a third, more conventional block to the south where the site tapers off. The two linear blocks address the environmental issues of the site by proposing a thin, 12 metre wide plan that allows every apartment both east and western exposure.

External shading coupled with the ability to modulate wind, sun and acoustic control create optimised natural ventilation and light, and passive thermal comfort for occupants.
